Safeguarding is defined as protecting children from maltreatment, preventing impairment of health and/or development, ensuring that children grow up in the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances.

The Safeguarding Policy forms part of a suite of documents and policies which relate to the safeguarding responsibilities of the school. These are all available on request from the school office or they may be found on our policy page.

Aim
The aim of Monksmead School is to safeguard and promote children’s welfare, safety, health and guidance by fostering an honest, open, caring and supportive climate. The children’s welfare is of paramount importance.
The overarching safeguarding message must be to maintain an attitude of “it could happen here”.
Contacts
At Monksmead, there is a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) who are responsible for ensuring that child protection and safeguarding concerns are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways which support the needs of the child.
